Brooks Braithwaite was established by Ron Brooks in 1965. The company’s first offices were located above the Ivy Restaurant, before moving to the Café Royal. These prestigious locations, coupled with Ron’s prior knowledge of the hotel business, led the company to become heavily involved in placing insurances for the hospitality and leisure industry.

The Company continued to grow and diversify, dealing with all classes of commercial and personal lines business together with life and pensions. In the early 1990’s the company saw large changes as it relocated to Essex and withdrew from life and pensions business to concentrate on general insurance.

Ron’s son, Michael Brooks, became a director in 1999 and with his extensive previous experience in the commercial insurance market, it was decided to develop this side of the business whilst at the same time moving into the newly emerging High Net Worth insurance market on the personal lines side of the business.

The Company has made a couple of key acquisitions, primarily to widen our commercial product range to include haulage and marine.

We are pleased to say, that the company has grown primarily through client recommendation, showing that our hands-on approach with our client dealings, allows us to focus on building long-term relationships with both clients and chosen insurance partners alike, so much so that our very first customer at Brooks Braithwaite still remains with us today.
